Many thanks to Richard Pattison for running an awesome first winter skills weekend despite winds of 50-60 miles an hour. Clare, James, Tom, Jon, Andy had a fantastic weekend on Aonach Mor playing in the snow making good use of our crampons, practicing ice axe arrest, building anchor points, placing dead men and dead boys, brushing up on our ropework and of course… throwing snowballs at each other!
In the evenings there was beer, whiskey, slides of South Georgia and a lesson in avoiding frostbite (yuk!). Three kilts were out in honour of Robbie Burns on Friday night and we were shown excellent hospitality from the ‘Chase the Wild Goose’ Hostel and it’s warden Ian.
Most of the time we were too busy to take the camera out but here are a few pictures from the weekend. Weekends 2 and 3 will be the 1st-3rd March and the 16th-17th March.
Looking forward to it
