A good days work

The sun shone today but unfortunately a three meter swell from the west and some strong winds meant that we decided to delay leaving Cascais today. However, the day was by no means wasted. Most of the crew set off on a trip to Lisbon whilst James, Clare, Cliggy, Jon and new crewmember Emma stayed behind to continue with maintenance. Don’t feel too sorry for them, it was nice and warm and they sat on deck pottering with outdoor jobs for a good 5 hours before the rain set in again. Jon climbed the mast for a rig check, we refurled our roller headsail (the right way round), and in a brilliant display of team effort (team Cliggy vs team Emma) we serviced the two big headsail winches. Lots of grease and diesel. They now run smooth and silent so hopefully this means better sleep for those below!

This evening we cooked trout and learnt that cooking 14 whole fish in our little oven is a bit too much of a challenge to be attempted on a regular basis… but Zoe’s brownies should be a daily occurrence.
