Ups and Downs of night sailing

So we’ve had another 24 hours of contrasts on Elinca!  Yesterday was spent close reaching in the sunshine and eating salad to calming tunes.  Then, to the washing machine maelstrom of the dark hours, with lightning flashes to our south, and a huge bright full moon lighting the drama from behind scudding clouds.  Big seas knock us from side to side up and down again. Waves wash the decks relentlessly and are surprisingly warm.  Now it’s light and the breeze has backed and we’re laying our course and it’s not so fearsome there are smiles and nods when people look at the electronic chart. The breeze should ease as the day goes on, and i can hear the folk on deck already talking about washing clothes and themselves.  They can but hope!
